Ohioans filed 15,952 applications to start a business in December 2025, seasonally adjusted, according to the Census Bureau's Business Formation Statistics. That is down from 17,938 the month before. A year earlier the figure was 13,442. Of the applications, 3,567 came from businesses the Census Bureau judges likely to hire employees. The figures are statewide; the Census Bureau does not publish them for New Carlisle.
