Ohio gas prices climb to highest point since May
Regular gasoline averaged $4.478 a gallon across Ohio in the week of September 21, 2026, the third straight weekly increase and the priciest week since late May.
A third straight weekly rise
Midgrade ran $5.057 and premium $5.624 that same week EIA. The figure is a statewide average; the state's weekly survey does not break prices down by city EIA. Prices had already been climbing before this week's reading, rising from $3.885 in the week of September 7 to $4.147 a week later before reaching $4.478 by September 21 EIA +2. The latest increase alone was about 8% over the week before, continuing a three-week run upward EIA.
Prices eased, then climbed again
The run did not continue. By the week of October 5, regular had dropped to $3.829, down 43 cents from the prior week EIA. It drifted higher again through October, reaching $3.870 the week of October 12 and $4.049 by October 19 EIA +1.
Looking at the fuller picture, Ohio's regular price has averaged $3.25 a gallon since the week of October 7, 2024 EIA. Over that same span the price has climbed 47.9% from $3.03 a gallon, and swung between a low of $2.53 the week of December 22, 2025, and a high of $4.78 the week of May 4, 2026 EIA.
By the numbers
These figures come from the U.S. Energy Information Administration's weekly survey of Ohio gasoline prices, published on its gasoline and diesel fuel update page, covering the week of September 21, 2026, alongside its readings for surrounding weeks EIA +8.
