The Consumer Product Safety Commission announced a recall of HAIARA power banks on October 29, 2026, after reports the batteries can explode and catch fire. About 11,000 units are covered, sold on Amazon.com by Mitrytech from May 2025 through September 2026 for between $18 and $22. CPSC

What to do

Anyone with one of the power banks should stop using it right away. Mitrytech says buyers should contact the company for a full refund, which requires writing "recalled" on the unit in permanent marker, photographing it and confirming it was thrown away. Mitrytech told the commission it has received 600 reports of fire and other thermal incidents, including three burn injuries and nine reports of property damage. The recall is nationwide, and the commission does not say how many of the power banks reached Ohio or New Carlisle specifically. CPSC
